VAANAM MUSIC REVIEW

Starring: Str, Anushka, Bhaath, Vega, Santhanam Direction: KrishMusic: Yuvan Shankar RajaProduction: Cloud Nine Movies (Dhayanidhi Azhagiri)Vocals: Silambarasan, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Abhishek, Lawrence, Benny Dayal, Andrea, Srikanth DevaLyrics: Silambarasan, U1, Na. Muthukumar, Abhishek, Lawrence

Evandi Unna Pethan
Vocals: Silambarasan, Yuvan Shankar Raja
Lyrics: Silambarasan, U1

Overpoweringly attractive is the simple verdict to mark ‘Evandi Unna Pethan’ for its electrifying beats and an excellent sound engineering. Silambarasan’s lyrical lines are catchy but he could have limited himself from certain lines. This track has become the favorite amongst youngsters. The accompaniment by bass guitar adds more intensity to the song. It’s a perfect song for the party animals.
Vaanam
Vocals: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

This is the cherry-pick of the album as it establishes the soul of this film. Having worked on the song nearly for three months, Yuvan Shankar Raja has come up with a remarkable performance. Na. Muthukumar has penned the song based on philosophical theme of ‘Where God is? Nowhere but in the hearts of those who repent for their sins’. Sounds like the song will appear during the crucial point of this film. The mild and beautiful chords played on guitar followed by distorted guitar heard during interludes embellish the song. ‘Vaanam’ is one of the best compositions of Yuvan Shankar Raja. The producers should have got this number as single-track album as it would have gained more attraction for the movie.
Cable Raja
Vocals: Abhishek, Lawrence
Lyrics: Abhishek, Lawrence

A mass number exclusively meant for STR fans. It sounds like an introduction song for Silambarasan and it is reminiscent of Yuvan Shankar Raja’s yesteryear song ‘Variya’ (Pudhupettai).  The song includes the titles of Simbhu’s previous and upcoming movies.
Who Am I
Vocals: Benny Dayal
Lyrics: Na. Muthukuma

Yuvan takes us for a ride through heavy metals and live drums that sound perfectly as a rock number. The lyrical lines centers upon a young man’s quest of himself just as the title signify ‘Who Am I?’ It may take some more time for the song to get its hold upon the listeners. The reason is because the instrumentals sound louder, thereby eclipsing the clarity of lyrics. Perhaps, if the essence of song is perceived clearly by listeners, it’s sure to make its way on top of charts. It sounds like the song is about a character confused to decide between his dreams and outside influences.
No Money. No Honey
Vocals: Silambarasan, Andrea, Srikanth Deva
Lyrics: Na. Muthukuma

A time-worn song that speaks about ‘Role of Money’ in everyone’s life and it’s an unstrained effort from entire team. Years back, we have come across a similar song titled ‘Chenna Pattanam’ from the film ‘Allithantha Vaanam’. Simbhu and Yuvan have picked a part of tune from ‘Nalam Thaana’ (Silambattam). With the song involving Simbhu, Anushka, Santhanam and producer Ganesh, we can expect that the song will gain more attraction with the visuals. Andrea steps out of her usual pattern of crooning melodious numbers and experiments with a fast-Kuthu number.
Verdict: ‘Vaanam’ can be regarded as one of the Yuvan’s better composition and it is sure to make high waves now. While ‘Evandi Unna Pethan’, ‘Vaanam’ and ‘Who Am I’ touches the surpassing degrees on different styles, ‘Cable Raja’ and ‘No Money’ caters to the tastes of mass audiences.

Sonam is being considered for the female lead in the Tamil remake of Dabangg after the original actress, Sonakshi Sinha refused the role.

The Dabangg fever seems to have caught the nation in a big way. While Bollywood is all set to make a sequel to Dabangg , South film industry is high on remaking the film. The Telugu remake will star Pawan Kalyan and the Tamil remake will star Simbu ( Silambarasan).

Interestingly while South superstars will play Salman Khan's character, for the female lead they seem to be looking for a Bollywood face. The actress from the original, Sonakshi Sinha was offered the Tamil remake but she refused. Subsequently there were stories that Katrina Kaif might do the film, since she has already worked in some South films.

However now the role has gone to Sonam Kapoor and the actress seems to be giving it a serious thought. An entry in the South film industry means more money and more fame. So if all goes well, Sonam might recreate Sonakshi's part in the Tamil Dabangg . A source adds, "There was also buzz that the gorgeous South actress Kajal Aggarwal was being considered but Simbu insisted the makers to replace her with Sonam".

Incidentally not many might be aware that Sonam's father Anil Kapoor started his career with a South film (Kannada) called Pallavi Anu Pallavi which also marked the debut of Mani Ratnam as a director.

Simbu is a happy man. Ever since his single Yevan di… from the film Vaanam hit music stores, Chennai has been humming the song.
And soon, of  B-town will follow suit.
The actor who is in Mumbai shooting for the video of the song is kicked about lending his voice for the Hindi version. “This is my first attempt in Bollywood. Initially, the team was not sure whether the single would work as it was just one song,” says Simbu, whose character in the film is called `Cable Raja’.
All their doubts were swept aside the minute the Tamil version of the song was released. “Venus Company
was extremely pleased with the outcome and they wanted a Hindi version. So we decided that we’d release a video album of the track.” After lending his voice for the Hindi version, Simbu, who has no experience of singing in Hindi, says, “I enjoyed recording for my first Hindi song.
Shabeer Ahmed has penned the lyrics for this version.”
The actor says, “I tried to understand the lyrics while recording and though I’m not too comfortable with the language, I’m sure I’ll perfect it in future.”
This may be his debut song in Hindi, but singing by itself is not new to the actor, who says he’d welcome similar offers in Bollywood films. “Why not?
It’s pocket money, so I’ll surely take it up.”
The track will be filmed on various sets and the actor says, “Ahmed Khan, who choreographed the Tamil song, will be doing the Hindi version as well.
We’ve already discussed the sets and sequence.”
According to the actor, huge sets have been erected to go with the theme of the song. Hip-hop and jazz will be the highlights of its choreography. “It’s a typical club scene,” adds Simbu.
Ask him about who’s pairing up with him for the Hindi song and he says, “Jasmine danced with me for Vaanam and we have signed up a new girl for the Hindi version.”
The video album is likely to release around April 9, which is the tentative date of release for Vaanam.

Thalaivan STR  was shooting for a song in Mumbai and has managed to impress the Venus Records and Tapes team who approached him to make the song in Hindi too. The song is composed by Yuvan and is to be rendered by STR. He will be singing it in Tamil and Hindi as well and the track will be featured in all the mainstream channels soon. With his charisma he is sure to find a fan base in Bollywood too.
Ace choreographer, Ahmed Khan has given STR his dance moves. He has put together a superb and extremely complicated routine for STR. But our young superstar is passionate about dance and he is doing an excellent job and Ahmed Khan is impressed with the hard work he is putting into the project and says he is definitely going to be huge star in the North.

Thalaivan aka STR is busy wrapping up work on Vaanam, which is to be released by Cloud Nine movies in April. A song sung by Simbhu for good friend Yuvan Shankar Raja called “Evan di una pethan” is already a rage.
The talented young star is currently in Mumbai for a song sequence. While there, the track impressed the head honchos at Venus, an audio company who had expressed interest in marketing the music of Vaanam. They were so impressed that they have convinced STR to sing the foot – tapping number in Hindi and also do a music video featuring him.
STR is thrilled with the idea as the music video will have the potential to be a chart – topper and will give him a lot of exposure in the north. Looks like the sky is the limit for STR!
