Silambarasan is in no mood to grab unnecessary attention by reacting to statements made by his colleauges like Bharath and Jiiva.

In fact both the stars lashed out at STR in recent press meets, with Jiiva even calling him a “back stabber”.
STR said: “I think only insecure people try to do back biting and grab attention by making unwarranted sensational statements and I don’t want to give undue importance to them by commenting on what they said about me”
The star has completed work on Osthi in Mysore and is all amused about the attention that the film and the famous Munni song is getting.
Says STR : “Everyday there is something written about the Munni song. I read reports stating that Nayanthara is doing the song and on the same day another paper reports that Katrina Kaif is doing the item number! This will be a new song and the truth is that music director Thaman is yet to compose the tune. It will be a fast peppy song and the set is getting ready in Chennai. The girl who will be doing the song along with me and Sonu Sood is yet to be finalised”

Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone are in the race to do the sexy item number in Osthi

Malaika Arora Khan made Munni a household name last year. And the makers of Osthi, the Tamil remake of Dabanng, are looking for an actress with equal oomph who can make the audience here dance to her tunes!
There are many names of top Bollywood heroines doing the rounds for this top item number picturised with Simbu and ‘villain’ Sonu Sood. According to sources, it looks like Simbu and director Dharani are keen on roping in Sheila Ki Jawani girl, Katrina Kaif, for the hot item number. It seems they are willing to shell out anywhere between a whopping Rs 75 lakh and Rs 1 crore for Salman Khan’s ex-girlfriend just for a five day shoot!

Silambarasan aka STR is working on a fast pace at his diwali release, 'Osthi', thats a remake of Bollywood blockbuster 'Dabangg' that featured Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha.
The film also featured a song 'Munni Badnaam Hui...' that became a smashing hit and received international popularity. With the film being remade in Tamil, the one question that remains is who will reprise this hot number as Simbu's Munni in 'Osthi'.
The latest is that Simbu and his team are keen on featuring a Bollywood top-notch actress, like Katrina Kaif of 'Sheila Ki Jawani...' fame or 'Rana' girl Deepika Padukone and Simbu and Dharani are willing to shell out up to one crore rupees for this actress!
Even Bipasha Basu, B'town's dusky beauty who is currently shooting on a Hindi film with Madhavan at Greece is being considered for this item number. It may be mentioned she has earlier appeared in Ilayathalapathy Vijay's 'Sachin'.

Silambarasan is a mad genius, who does many things at the same time.

He is shooting for Osthi, writing script for the film that he is directing, crooning for other heroes and penning lyrics for songs.

Currently, the actor is completing work on Osthi, in Mysore.

He spoke to sify.com: "I can’t believe that Osthi is complete and only two songs are remaining. We shot the film in record number of days and all credit goes to Dharani’s perfect planning and execution. He made me work like Chitti Robo (Laughs) from early mornings to late night.”

STR adds: “ Dharani is clear headed and he is in complete sync with me which brings the best in me. The dubbing for the film has started in Chennai and it will be my Diwali release”

While answering the queries of his fans in a popular Tamil magazine, Santhanam faced a question on who he considers to be his guru in the film industry. To this, he had replied that it is none other than Silambarasan.
Elaborating on why he considers him as his guru, the comedian said that it was STR who gave him the opportunity to star in a movie for the first time and it would have been impossible for him to have entered the film industry without Silambarasan’s guidance.

It may be recalled that Santhanam’s debut film was Manmadhan in 2004, which had STR playing the lead role.

STR's next film with Nelson has been delayed. Recently they completed 2 schedules in a mere 20 days where some action scenes and the lead pair - STR and Deeksha Seth's scenes were shot. However, a difficult situation has cropped up because two more heroines are needed in this 3 - heroine film.
The director and STR were keen to have Anushka in one of the roles but they have been unable to get her dates. Kareena Kapoor was approached but she scared them away with the astronomical price she demanded. So STR and the director are still hunting for heroines. Word is that they are looking for a big time Bollywood babe or perhaps a foreign import. Filming will begin when the leading ladies are finalized and that is likely to be only in November.

Simbu had partly directed 'Manmadhan' and had made his debut as a full-fledged director through 'Vallavan', and both the films tasted success at the box-office and the former proved a landmark film in his career. This was especially because of the script and concept which received a warm welcome among audience.

Now that STR has decided to re-start his long-pending directorial venture 'Kettavan', he is planning to make it big. The actor-filmmaker has said he would make the movie simultaneously in three languages.
"Kettavan will be made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, since the story is universal and it would be enjoyed by audience of all languages. I will start the shooting very soon," says Simbu, who is currently busy with three projects.
Denying reports appeared in a section of the media that 'Kettavan' is actually a sequel to 'Manmadhan', Silambarasan says, "Though the style is going to be the same, the story and characters will be different."
Happy about joining hands with his good friend Yuvan Shankar Raja once again, Simbu says, "Already one of the songs from the film ('Yennada Nadakudhu Inga...') was out on the net and it is a huge hit."

Silambarasan aka STR is sometimes impatient, sometimes temperamental and sometimes impulsive.

He had proved once again with Vaanam that his phenomenal star power is simply un parallel. It is his child like vulnerability that strikes you the most, when you speak to him.

He may give the ‘I’m-casual-about-my-work’ vibe but there would be no compromises when it comes to work, even if that means shooting all night long without breaks.

If he loves something, he will go to any extent of pushing himself as seen by the working pattern he chose during filming of Vaanam and now Osthi.

He’s finished working with director Gautham Menon and the duo delivered a superhit  in VTV.  Currently,  Simbu  is working  with commercial director  Dharani on  osthi,  the   Tamil  remake  of Dabangg. And the latest news is that the  actor  will turn  director next  year,  perhaps  in a  bid  to  ensure  that his  dream  project, Kettavan,  shapes up  the way  he wants it to.
Confirming the news, the actor says, “I’m  starting  it  next  year, for sure. The cast and crew are yet to be finalized  but  just that I want to  kick start  the  film. Many in the industry say that Kettavan is Simbu’s dream project. Is that true? “Well, you could say that,” he says, “It’s been on my mind  for quite  a while now and I’m happy that I’m starting it now. It is not Manmadhan 2, but it will fall under that style of filmmaking and  will  be made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Simbu's 'Kettavan' had taken the backburner and wherever the actor went, which ever interview he attended, this was always one of the questions he couldn't escape from journalists and fans.

Now Simbu fans can rejoice as the film will finally start rolling!
Speaking on this, Simbu expressed, "Kettavan will start next year, wherever I go the first question I face was always, when is Kettavan. Finally, I have decided to start it and I am directing the film!"

Yuvan Shankar Raja, a dear friend of Simbu, who has also given him many hits, will be scoring the music for this film.
We may add, his earlier film as a director-hero, 'Manmadhan' was a landmark film in Simbu's career.

The actor will be singing two songs in this film that is set to release a single soon

First it was Evandi Unne Petthan… from  Vaanam. Then it was Vilayadu Mankatha… from  Mankatha. Now, it is Vosthi starring Simbu and Richa Gangopadhyay, which will have a single track being  released, well before the official
audio launch of the film. Confirming the news, Thaman, the music director of the film, says, “Yes. We will be releasing the title track of the film shortly — possibly within a week or so. The song is in the postproduction stage.” Simbu, who is known to croon a number in almost all his films, will be singing in Vosthi as well. A source confirms to CT that Simbu will be singing two songs in this movie. “One will be a mass number and the other one will be a duet with Shreya Ghoshal,” the source adds. What remains to be seen however, is if Vosthi will have a Munni badnaam hui… number. “The team,” Thaman informs, “even considered dubbing the same song to Tamil. However,
I refused. I wanted some fresh tunes, something that would suit the Tamil sensibilities. Essentially, we looked at creating a mass appeal.” Ask him if this is the mass song that Simbu is to croon and he remains tightlipped, saying that he wants it to be a surprise.

Single track audio releases seem to have become the fad of the day in Tamil cinema, what with a number of leading films releasing promotional audio tracks before the actual audio DVD hits the stands, thus creating more expectations than ever.

Grapevine has it that STR's forthcoming film, 'Osthi', will join this league and will see a one track audio release! The tunes for 'Osthi' are composed by Thaman and the megaphone for this action-packed entertainer is wielded by Dharani.

It may be mentioned that Simbu's previous film, 'Vaanam', had seen a single song release as well and it was well-received by fans and music lovers. The original film, 'Dabaang' in Hindi, had a smashing item number, 'Munni Badnaam Hui...', and expectations are high to see the remake of this number and fans are eager to know who will reprise this hot song in Simbu's film.

The talkie portion's shoot has been wrapped up and the film features Simbu and Richa Gangopadhyay in lead roles, with Jithan Ramesh, Saranya Mohan, Revathy and Sonu Sood in pivotal roles...

T Rajendar has lodged a counter complaint with the Chennai police after a film financier alleged that he and Silambarasan threatened to murder him. According to financier Ramamurthy, T Rajendar had availed a 59 crore loan from him but he returned only 28 crores and refused to give back the 31 crores.
When the financier asked him to return this 31 crores, both T Rajendar and Silambarasan threatened to kill him, Ramamurthy alleged. Refuting this, T Rajendar in his complaint to the police today said that Ramamurthy is foisting a false case against him and his son STR. T Rajendar clarified that Ramamurthy distributed his Monisha En Monalisa film in the year 1999 on minimum guarantee basis. A case pertaining to the rift between them due to the losses incurred is still pending in the court, T Rajendar said. He added that a similar police case was filed by Ramamurthy during the previous AIADMK regime too and same thing is happening now.

Silambarasan has said that film financier Ramamurthy has foisted a false case on his father and him. The star said that Ramamurthy alleged that he threatened to kill him and slapped him across his face but this is totally baseless. STR made it clear that he was at the Osthi shooting spot in Mysore when the alleged incident happened.
The actor added that he can prove that he was in Mysore when the incident happened and said that the financier is cooking up stories to land him in trouble.

Work on STR's Vettai Mannan is going on at full speed. Some time back, a fight sequence was shot at the Binny Mills. Apparently, in this scene, STR and Jai take on the baddies and beat them all up to pulp. It has shaped up very well according to those in the know, and has some truly great action.
Cinematographer Sakthi has used some groundbreaking technology for these shots and for the first time ever, two cameras have been used to create a particular effect that is supposed to be absolutely mindblowing. STR loved the scene when the rushes were shown to him, and he personally congratulated Sakthi for his fine work, we hear.

When Simbu's forthcoming 'Vettai Mannan' teaser got out, although fans and film patrons were pleased with the slick trailer and Simbu's suave look, there was something bothering all fans. The tunes in the teaser reminded one of the interludes from 'RocknRolla' by Guy Ritchie, a British crime thriller that released a few years back. The tunes for 'Vettai Mannan' are scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja and the megaphone for this film is wielded by Nelson. Simbu shares screen space with Deeksha Seth and Jai plays a pivotal role in this film. The team is currently in Brazil canning few important scenes and songs.
With many people talking about this track being 'lifted' from 'RocknRolla', Simbu spoke to his fans and expressed that the teaser isn't the final version and the track in it isn't by Yuvan Shankar Raja! He also added that the teaser got leaked! We wonder what went wrong here...
However, Simbu assured that the final version of the teaser will be released to fans, shortly.

His performance in Vaanam might have been well received, but Bharath is peeved about the publicity that he was denied during the promos of the film. "I've not been honoured," the actor says, "I've done a multi-starrer before (Pattiyal) and director Vishnuvardhan had ensured that both the actors in the film got due recognition in terms of publicity." According to him, that wasn't the case for Vaanam. "People loved my character and I learnt a lot while working on the film. But, what matters at the end of the day is your face on the publicity material and I'm unhappy that my count is low. To be frank, there was almost nothing!" So, did he get a chance to speak to producer Ganesh and actor Simbu? "Yes," he says, "And they said they'll do the promotions for me as well but I could see only one face in the posters and publicity material of the film. To some extent, I could talk to them but beyond a limit, I did not want to lose my self-respect as well. Now, I just want people to know that I'm not against multi-starrers but Vaanam is a sad phase of my career because of the lack of publicity.

It looks like Silambarasan is going through a winning spree as his films are gaining him more accolades. On the dot, his career was slightly dwindling with his ‘mass-image’ factor and a surprising turn with ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya’ as his career touched the best levels. His recent release ‘Vaanam’ emerged as a winner amongst audiences and is regarded as one of the best films of this decade. The actor has got himself enlightened choosing unique scripts that are completely different from each film. Say for instance, ‘Poda Podi’ that is scheduled for release by next couple of months is touted to be a breezy romantic entertainer. While ‘Osthi’ is a solid commercial entertainer (remake of Salman Khan’s ‘Dabangg’) and ‘Vettai Mannan’ is a crime-thriller shot extensively across various parts of the globe. The teaser of ‘Vettai Mannan’ involves the delineation of Silambarasan’s character as a sharpshooter. The film will travel through the unexplored maps of Underworld.
